Another NEET candidate in Tamil Nadu committed suicide over the fear of failing in the medical entrance exam. The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Monday adopted a bill to do away with the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET) and seek admission to medical courses on the basis of Class 12 marks to ensure social justice. The Bill was passed in 2017 for the same purpose during the AIADMK regime. But it did not get the assent of the President. This time Chief Minister MK Stalin introduced the bill and it was supported by all parties including main opposition AIADMK and its ally PMK among others like Congress and it was passed by voice vote.
