Washington. US President Joe Biden will host the first Quad Summit with the physical presence of the leaders of the Quad countries (USA, India, Japan, Australia) next week. The White House gave this information on Monday. This conference of four leaders will be held on September 24 at the White House.
The summit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga gave broad ideas to give new impetus to the functioning of the Quad. Looking forward to discussing.
According to PTI-language, PM Modi is likely to visit Washington, during which he is scheduled to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York and have a bilateral meeting with President Biden apart from attending the Quad Summit on September 24.
However, no official announcement has been made from the Indian side regarding Modi’s visit as well as the Quad Summit. India and the US held several meetings as part of preparations for PM Modi’s US visit and it is known that this issue also came up during the recent visit of Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla to Washington.
The US is considering holding the summit with the personal presence of the leaders of the Quad to promote practical cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region as well as to give a strong signal about Washington’s commitment to the grouping.
President Biden hosted the first summit of the Quad leaders digitally in March, expressing a resolve for a free, open, inclusive, democratic-valued Indo-Pacific region free from constraints such as forced occupation. In a way, this was seen as a message to China.
Modi had earlier visited the US in September 2019, when he and the then US President Donald Trump addressed the Howdy Modi event in Houston.
