Engineers are setting an example for the country and the world by constructing roads, bridges and buildings amidst challenging conditions in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The world’s highest railway bridge over the Chenab river at Reasi in Jammu division is nearing completion. The height of this railway bridge is more than the Eiffel Tower. At the same time, the Border Road Organization has set an example for the world by building the world’s highest road at Umlingala Pass in Ladakh. By March 31, 2022, the construction of the world’s highest bridge on the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir will be completed. This bridge will serve to connect the Kashmir Valley with the rest of India. This bridge has a height of 359 meters above the level of the river. While the height of the Eiffel Tower is 324 meters. Engineers of the Border Roads Organization in Eastern Ladakh have achieved the feat of building the world’s highest road by constructing a road at an altitude of 19,300 feet above sea level at Umlingala Top, close to the China border. Umlingala Top is located near Hanle, 230 km from Leh. The 86 km long road connecting Chisumle and Demchok villages holds strategic importance. This village is adjacent to the Indo-China border in the eastern region.
