A court on Wednesday restrained Punjabi singer and composer Yo Yo Honey Singh from making third party rights over immovable and movable property owned by him or his companies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). His wife has filed a case of domestic violence against Honey Singh.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tania Singh also directed Honey Singh to file documents of his companies which are registered abroad. The court has fixed the matter for hearing on September 17.

The court gave this direction on an application filed by Honey Singh’s wife Shalini Talwar. The application alleged that her husband is in the process of creating third party rights over property in Dubai and disposing of certain properties. He told the court that Singh had a ‘posh villa’ of 333.73 square meters in Dubai, which he had bought for him through one of his companies set up abroad.

Shalini claimed in the application that her husband had made a general power of attorney in her favor on November 19, 2019, giving her the right and control over all her movable and immovable properties located in the UAE. She said that she has serious apprehensions that her husband may revoke that general power of attorney. Shalini requested the court to restrain Singh from revoking the power of attorney, settling third party rights to the property in Dubai either personally or through his company. The petitioner also sought directions to prevent Honey Singh from changing the directorship of any of his foreign companies and maintaining the status quo of all movable and immovable properties located in UAE.

Hirdesh Singh and Talwar, popularly known as Yo Yo Honey Singh, got married on January 23, 2011. Talwar, in his domestic violence petition, has described how Singh allegedly physically abused her in the last ten years of their marriage. She also alleged that Honey Singh cheated on her. She has demanded Rs 20 crore from her husband as compensation under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act.
